Dr Brad Horsburgh

Dr Brad Horsburgh is an experienced cataract surgeon. He also performs pterygium surgery, adult strabismus surgery and practices comprehensive ophthalmology.

Dr Horsburgh consults at Northside Eye Specialists in Chermside, Brisbane and has spent more than 20 years as a Visiting Ophthalmologist (VMO) at the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital, teaching ophthalmic registrar trainees.

Dr Brad Horsburgh operates at two locations – Brisbane Day Surgery in Spring Hill and Chermside Day Surgery on the Brisbane Northside.

Cataract surgery

Everyone develops cataracts as they age. The average age for cataract surgery is approximately 73 years. Modern cataract surgery is a very safe procedure, with approximately 300,000 procedures being performed every year in Australia.

Macular degeneration treatment

Macular degeneration (AMD), is a chronic painless eye disease that causes central vision loss and is more common as you get older. It is caused by damage to the cells in the central region (macula) of the back of your eye (the retina).

Pterygium and Pterygium surgery

A pterygium is a fleshy overgrowth of the conjunctiva that may affect one or both eyes. It is a pink colored growth that starts on the clear tissue of the eye called conjunctiva. It is caused by excessive or prolonged ultraviolet exposure.

Adult squint / strabismus surgery

Strabismus, or turned eye, is a very common condition. Many adults had squint surgery performed as children. The turned eye may have been turned either in or out as a child and initially may have been straight following the surgery.

Glaucoma treatment

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve. The optic nerve sends visual information from your eye to your brain and is vital for good vision. Damage to the optic nerve is often related to high pressure in your eye.
